Years are nothing; days are less

Held in the everlasting hand.

Weigh the victories, toss regrets,

Glance not at the spilling sand

That runs so quickly through the glass

As hours fleeting speed on by.

Great the future, small the past

When God Almighty’s on my side.

Time’s a friend that ties this mortal

To yon immortality

Fear not, soul, to cross that portal

And leave behind your frailty.

Youth is beauty without sorrow

Age is beauty purified;

I shall leave them both tomorrow

To live beyond the realm of time.
