Butter Spice Cookies

These are perfect tea time cookies!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup raw cane sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom, ground
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cup flour (soft white wheat or white flour)
Instructions
  1. *Beat sugar and butter until smooth. Add the egg, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg and salt. Stir in flour.
  2. *Make 1.5 inch thick balls of dough by rolling between your palms. Place in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Chill for a half hour while preheating oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. *Roll one side of each ball in coarse raw sugar. Flatten each ball slightly between palms and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  4. *Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until very lightly golden in color. Cool on pan for five minutes and then transfer to a smooth surface to finish cooling. Stores well in an airtight container.
