I Know This
One grows accustomed to grief
as to pain.
The limp becomes less pronounced
since the day of injury.
It is no longer noticed as often
nor does it impede as completely
as it once did.
At times the ache will bring tears again.
Sometimes a flood.
But the shock of the first anguish is faded.
I know how this feels.
I will always know how this feels.
